The British School of Costa Daurada is a humble project driven by a family from Tarragona, aiming to provide quality English-language education to our community. Our journey began in 2008 with a modest nursery in the heart of Tarragona, named JIGSAW, equipped with limited resources but brimming with enthusiasm to create an inspiring project.

The principles guiding our path include: Prioritising our students and their families as the core of our school, striving for their utmost contentment. Developing an educational project based on the British Curriculum, continuously improving and innovating, aspiring to be a pioneer in our region. Promoting a language-focused initiative where language proficiency plays a vital role, closely collaborating with the prestigious British Council. Driving innovation and technology in learning, always seeking the latest tools and technological resources to engage our students.

Maintaining a reduced student-to-teacher ratio (maximum of 20 per class) to ensure a close-knit environment and personalised attention. Ensuring the school doesn’t become elitist, making the fees accessible to the maximum number of families in our community. Following these principles, in 2017, we expanded our school and relocated to the nearby municipality of El Catllar, responding to parental demand for inclusive education from early years to primary school.

Despite modest facilities, our unwavering enthusiasm for this initiative remained steadfast. The rapid success and societal impact of our project have been testament to our dedication. The year 2020 brought unique challenges amid a global pandemic. Despite these obstacles, the exceptional commitment and resilience of our team not only made us stronger but also contributed to a substantial increase in enrollment. Recognising this growth, our stakeholders and leadership found it necessary to deeply analyse our current reality and future challenges.

In 2023, we witnessed extraordinary improvement and progress, engaging the entire educational community in deep and thoughtful reflection. This effort led to a strategic project focused on improvement that addresses the needs of our team, families, stakeholders, and, most importantly, our students. As we approach the academic year 2023/2024, our focus is on implementing and solidifying all the accomplished improvements, aiming to become a benchmark in education, both locally and nationally.

Establishing a secondary education program for our school is one of our top priorities, and GCSEs and A-levels are the pathways we’ve chosen to prepare our students for the future. Our ongoing mission remains to ensure that every aspect of our institution reflects a strong commitment to the pursuit of excellence, offering unparalleled educational perspectives to our students.
