King Richard III College is a privately owned, independent, British international school located in Portals Nous, Calvià on the south west coast of Mallorca, 17km from Palma airport. The college is situated in a quiet residential area, overlooking the beautiful Oratorio beach.
Founded in 1969, King Richard III College provides a safe and welcoming learning environment to children from the age of 3 to 18.
The school offers the English National Curriculum from the EYFS through to IGCSEs and A Levels using the Cambridge exam board (CAIE).
King Richard III College is a member of NABSS (National Association of British Schools in Spain), inspected by British inspectors and authorized by the British Council. In addition, the school is inspected and authorised by the Spanish ministry of education to offer a parallel Spanish programme for native and advanced students, leading to the convalidation of ESO at the end of Year 11 and Titulo de Bachiller at the end of Year 13. At 6th Form, students choose from 18 A Level courses including art photography, music, economics, PE and psychology. In addition to the three sciences, we also offer marine science.
Our 45 professional, experienced teachers encourage all students to have high expectations. Our results at IGCSE and A Level are excellent, with students graduating from KR3 to take up places at top universities in Europe, the UK and further afield.
28 classrooms are spread among our 4 buildings, including two laboratories, a computer suite, music room and art room with 2 darkrooms for photography. Fresh food is prepared daily in our modern kitchens and provided free to our students from Reception up to Year 11. The EYFS zone has independent secure access, and our youngest students enjoy learning in the vegetable garden, stimulating psychomotricity playroom and climbing playground. In the school grounds, there is a multi-purpose sports court, patio, playground and numerous shaded areas with benches in the courtyard. Our sport curriculum is delivered at the sailing club, equestrian centre, athletics stadium, and sports centre.
Woven into the ethos of KR3 are the values of empathy and kindness. Through the student council, children are given the opportunity to organize and participate in community events to raise money for charity. Our senior students are offered a range of supra-curricular activities including the Model United Nations. As an accredited provider of the Duke of Edinburgh International Award, King Richard III College annually prepares students for the bronze, silver and gold awards.
Places, when available, are offered to students who are successful in our application process which involves an interview and entrance exam. Reports & references from current schools form a major part of the selection procedure and applicants are invited to participate in a taster day. Entry to 6th Form is selective and based largely on performance at IGCSE.
