The British School of Almería, founded in 2007, welcomes children from the age of 3 to 18. Our bright, modern school is located near to the beach in the coastal town of Roquetas de Mar. We are fully authorised by the regional Spanish government and are extremely proud to have recently become a member of the International Schools Partnership, a highly prestigious group of international schools.
Being a British school, eighty per cent of the School curriculum is based on the UK National Curriculum and taught by fully qualified, experienced staff. There are two compulsory elements of the Spanish curriculum: Spanish language and social studies, which represent the remaining twenty percent. There are a wide range of subjects available for examination study at both IGCSE and Advanced Level. Pupils are therefore well prepared for further study in the United Kingdom, Spain or elsewhere in the World.
During the last ten years, we have already gained a reputation for high educational standards. However, we are fully committed to ensuring constant improvement and enhancing the quality of the education we provide. Our pupils are well-motivated and happy and our school has a special, warm and friendly atmosphere. There is strong support for individuals, both for those who experience difficulties and others who are exceptionally talented.
We also boast a broad and varied programme of extra-curricular activities, visits, and international events which allow our pupils to discover their individual passions and provide them with valuable and memorable experiences outside the classroom. In addition, we also run a highly successful music school and a very popular summer camp.
We want pupils at our schools to learn effectively, through thinking, feeling and doing. We want them to learn how to analyse, solve problems, work independently, think creatively and use their imagination. We also want them to have a strong emotional education, learning to explore and understand their own feelings and those of others. In this way our pupils will be fully prepared for the demands and complexities of modern life.
