King’s Infant School, The British School of Elche is a dedicated infant school offering a British education to pupils aged 2 to 8. The school opened in September 2017 and boasts a wide range of high quality facilities to enhance pupils’ learning.
All classrooms are fitted with interactive whiteboards and there are computers in all Primary classrooms. Pupils have access to a full digital learning programme, including iPads to encourage creativity.
Each teacher and teaching assistant is qualified and experienced in the British curriculum ensuring that your child is in the safest of hands.
Lessons are planned so that children apply their knowledge from more than one subject to a particular theme or topic. This encourages students to make connections in a practical way, which boosts their problem-solving skills, allows them to think creatively and convert knowledge into understanding.
In Key Stage 1 children are encouraged to learn through play; for example, in Nursery one of the topics is ‘The Circus’. This involves learning about shapes, counting, listening to stories about animals and singing songs. This interactive learning process gives children first-hand experience while encouraging them to enjoy learning.
As children move onto Key Stage 2, teachers help broaden their experiences. For example, students study a particular topic and use that topic across a range of subjects, including Science, Maths, History and Literature. All teachers are trained to create stimulating lessons.
Right from the start teachers communicate with children in English. By the time children move into Junior School they are reading and writing in English and once they reach Secondary, children who speak English as a second-language have become fluent. We offer an English Induction programme for students who join the school with little or no knowledge of the language. Similarly, we offer an induction programme for children who speak limited or no Spanish.
Above all, our school approach is guided by the values of King’s Group: honesty, faith and courage.
In 2019, King’s College schools became members of Inspired, a leading global premium schools group operating in Europe, Asia-Pacific, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America, educating over 45,000 students across a global network of more than 64 schools.
